Due to certain special circumstances there may be occasions when a temporary reduction in manning is called for. As a case in point, the disembarkation of an officer due to serious medical reasons, and at which time no replacement officer will be readily available. Under such circumstances a request must be made to this office for such temporary dispensation. The response from this office can be use in the event that Port State Authorities request documentation from the flag state.

When the replacement officer or crew member reports on board, this office should be inform accordingly.
