Reference: Resolution No. 614-257-ALCN of 1984 |
Resolution No. 614-257-ALCN of 1984 established a set of regulations intended to ensure that the crew accommodation, galleys, provision supplies of Panamanian flag vessels meet acceptable standards.
The aforementioned regulations stipulate that for vessels built before 1971 (date of ratification of the convention by Panama) as well as for sailing ships and tugs, the Administration could grant some type of relaxation of the technical requirements of the regulations if full compliance is considered unreasonable or impracticable by the Administration.
Taking into consideration the above, the Directorate has established the following procedure for the obtainment of a partial or total exemption of the aforementioned requirements:
The New York office will evaluate the request and the revert to the owners/operators with its decision. If it is agreed to grant the exemption/exemptions the response will include the exemption certificate or letter, with copy to cognizant recognized organization or Class Society.
