Subject: Required Documents for Ship Radio Stations |
Passenger ships, irrespective of size and cargo ships of 1,600 gross tons and upwards, unless exempted under Regulation 5 of Chapter IV of SOLAS, shall be fitted with a radiotelegraph station and shall comply with the provisions of the aforementioned chapter. Also exempted are vessels which have adopted the Equivalent Arrangement as per SLS 14/Circ.72.
The above mentioned vessels require the following documents on board:
1. Radiotelegraph Installations:
Cargo ships of 300 gross tons and upwards but less than 1,600 gross tons, unless fitted with a radiotelegraph station complying with the provisions of Regulations 9 and 10 of Chapter IV of SOLAS shall, provided they are not exempted under Regulation 5 of the aforementioned Chapter, be fitted with a radiotelephone station complying with the provisions of Chapter IV of SOLAS.
