Subject: Applications for Radiocommunication Station License in the Maritime Mobile Service and List of Approved Radio Service Companies |
1. Application for Radiocommunications Station License in the Maritime Mobile Service
At the same time as the presentation of ship registration to the Panamanian Consular officials, the interested party shall apply for radiocommunications station license by completing the form provided by the Directorate General of Consular and Maritime Affairs. The Consul will then issue a radio permit which is valid for three (3) months. The radio permit can be renewed by prior authorization granted by the Directorate General of Consular and Maritime Affairs.
The interested party may also request application directly to the Directorate General of Consular and Maritime Affairs. The provisional radio license can be renewed automatically every three months provided the vessel is up-to-date in her payments, until the statutory license has been obtained. The radio communications station license application must be completed by a technician in radio matters or by the radio operator of the vessel.
The duration of the statutory radiocommunication station license for vessels registered in the National Merchant Marine is valid for four (4) years, except for vessels with special navigation "Patente" (chartered vessels) whose radiocommunication's license will expire upon termination of the charter contract.
Application for statutory radiocommunication station license shall be presented directly to the Directorate General of Consular and Maritime Affairs before the expiration date of the provisional radio license or the radio permit. When the radio license has expired or has been modified, the original must be returned to the Directorate General of Consular and Maritime Affairs.
We wish to clarify that the company in charge or owner of the radio station of the vessel is the only one responsible for the radio bills; consequently, the payments shall be sent directly to the companies shown in the following list, as applicable.
