To: Shipowners/Operators and Masters of Vessels

Subject: Amendments to the Vessel Registration (Navigation "Patente")

Reference: Regulation 1-76 dated December 17, 1976

 

  1. Any modification or alteration of the "Patente" of a Panamanian flag vessel, such as a change of name or owner of the vessel, a major change in the structure of the vessel, or in the case of a casualty, destruction or loss of the original "Patente", shall require the issuance of a new Navigation "Patente". (See Merchant Marine Circular No.7).
  2. In the event that such an alteration occurs, the procedure for the acquirement of a new "Patente" should follow.
  3. When the amendment is due to a change of name or structure of the vessel, new technical certificates will be required.
